Statement of BK München concerning "The white Boxer" 2/01/2012

The day before the last general meeting of BK in 2011, the BK-presidium received the order from the chairmen of the regional groups, to request VDH’s approval for 25 „Test – matings“ with white Boxers. The request has been sent quickly, on 25 February 2011, and we did not receive anything from VDH for weeks and months.

After repeated reminding made by the chairman of breeding and by the 1.Präsident of BK we have received a short answer from VDH, with the letter from 31.08.2011: The breeding committee of VDH is still dealing with the request, but there are big concerns regarding the need of the test matings.

We did not receive any reaction from VDH for weeks and for months, therefore we urged again for an answer.

In the letter from 15.12.2011 we received the following answer from VDH:
1. The breeding committee of VDH dealt again on our request at its meeting held on 06 November 2011 and noted that: Based on the available documents and information given by BK to VDH, VDH can not recommend the test matings!

2. If BK still holds on to his request, an approval will be given by VDH in the following conditions:
a) 10 test matings white x fawn/brindle
b) The used females shall not be closely related

c) The test matings shall not start unless the participation of the subjects is sure (the commitment of the breeders /owners is necessary to confirm that 10 test matings are sure)

So far that is all concerning the answer of VDH.

There must be noticed that the order of the delegates from the year 2011 cannot be realized.

It would be necessary to test the combinations at least over three generations which is impossible with the approved number of test matings.

Also, the condition that the owners/breeders should confirm in advance to examine all the puppies medical (and no puppy may be excepted) cannot be fulfilled.

Secondly, the white individuals should be subjected to auditory tests for hearing loss in addition to the usual health tests (HD, heart, spondylosis). Then, the resulted litters could get only registered-pedigrees, because they were not bred accordingly to the standard.

For all these reasons, at this point, the presidium of BK considered the issue of "white Boxer into the breed" as completed and the order of the delegates as fulfilled.

If new knowledge or needs will arise in the future, the topic shall be filed to BK with a new order into a meeting, and voted.
